Built from inside the studio, not the boardroom.

Our journey began with Stefan, our co-founder and CEO, who joined a high-end residential interior design practice fresh from undergraduate studies in 2012. He quickly recognised the business challenges of managing a studio that undertook projects globally. Despite the grandeur of these projects, the backend operations leaned heavily on outdated methods like Excel and Word, resulting in inefficiencies and errors. Working with the management team, Stefan developed an operational system tailored to the studio’s needs.

His passion for information systems propelled him to pursue a master’s degree in business information technology and to become a CPA. His subsequent experience at a leading architectural firm, with hundreds of employees and branches nationwide, introduced him to advanced practices for managing numerous large-scale projects simultaneously.

The onset of the pandemic presented Stefan with an opportunity to build a startup that leveraged his unique experience for the benefit of the interior design industry. He set out to create software that emphasised impactful, business-centric workflows that enhance studio efficiency and profitability. To realise this vision, Stefan teamed up with a partner specialising in cloud architecture to ensure enterprise-grade performance.

While competing tools focused on aesthetics and simplicity, often sidelining essential business features, we took a different approach. DSM was born out of a desire to put our clients’ business needs first. We are committed to working alongside our customers, developing the features they value, and creating software that not only solves their challenges but is also a genuine pleasure to use.
